Item Details
An exceptional and highly unusual pair of 19th century carved oak corner chairs incorporating impressive 17th century hand-carved oak panels. Richly decorated with bold foliate scrolls, masks, lion heads and figural carvings, the earlier panels have been skilfully integrated into the later chair frames, creating a striking combination of period craftsmanship.
Raised on elegant cabriole legs with carved details and retaining their green upholstered seats, these chairs are both decorative and practical. Their unusual form and remarkable carved panels make them ideal statement pieces for a hall, library or period interior.
A rare and fascinating pair with genuine 17th century carving, offering outstanding character and historical appeal.
