Fine quality 19th Century (c.1830) Biedermeier antique mahogany wardrobe that is fantastic condition showing a few marks associated with use over the last 195 years. It has a wonderful colour and grain the images really do not do this justice. It has two doors the left door has its original two point locking mechanism that works as it should and there is a key for the right hand door, this has full height original mirror to the inside, the base stands on fine turned mahogany legs to the front with two very useful drawers. The wardrobe completely dismantles, the large part being the drawer base and is all held together with four bolts supplied. It stand very sturdy when assembled. Biedermeier furniture, popular from roughly 1815 to 1848, emerged in Central Europe, particularly in German-speaking regions, as a style reflecting the tastes of the rising middle class. It emphasized simplicity, functionality and craftsmanship, utilizing locally available materials and showcasing clean lines and unadorned surfaces. The style's name is derived from the Biedermeier period, a time of relative peace and prosperity following the Napoleonic Wars.
