Item Details
A beautiful and richly figured early 18th century walnut chest of drawers, constructed in two parts and dating to the first half of the Georgian period. This elegant and practical piece showcases the warmth and depth of well-aged walnut, with particularly attractive grain and decorative inlay throughout.
The chest comprises two short drawers over three long graduated drawers, offering generous storage. The drawer fronts are veneered in finely figured walnut, embellished with delicate circular and line inlay that enhances the natural beauty of the timber. The sides are similarly well grained oak and the piece stands on shaped bracket feet, adding to its classic early Georgian proportions.
Each drawer is fitted with ornate brass drop handles and escutcheons, complementing the rich tones of the wood. The drawers run smoothly and the construction is solid, reflecting the quality craftsmanship of the period. Being of two-part construction, the chest separates for ease of transport and positioning.
